By the end of the year, Samsung will invest in a field until now dominated by Meta, with a first pair of connected glasses, designed in collaboration with Google, Qualcomm as well as the frame creators Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
A binocular color display under study
But there is no question of the South Korean giant stopping there, since the Korean site The Elec is already providing details on the next generation, which will mainly be distinguished by the integration of a display. The manufacturer would therefore be testing various possibilities, and is currently looking at a “binocular” color screen projecting data in front of both of the user’s eyes, unlike Meta’s “monocular” version, limited to the right eye alone.
Contextual notifications and Galaxy ecosystem
Meta’s competing model also has a modest 600 x 600 pixel resolution, and focuses above all on notifications and navigation. However, Samsung would not be looking for heavy immersion with a very high-resolution display either, unlike other devices promising an immense virtual screen, preferring to optimize the direct viewing of notifications, routes and contextual elements. The manufacturer will also have a major asset: seamless integration within its existing hardware ecosystem, alongside its Galaxy smartphones and connected watches.
The release date and indicative price of these future Samsung connected glasses with a color display are still unknown for the moment, the product still being in the preliminary design phase.
