Pioneer, Elite, Integra and Onkyo: Auro 3D update, Roon Ready, Dirac Live, Pre-Amp mode… approaching

A selection of Pioneer, Elite, Integra and Onkyo amplifiers will gain several features via a future update, and among the most interesting.

Premium Audio Company, which manages the Pioneer, Elite, Integra and Onkyo brands, announces an upcoming major firmware update for several references of these brands, bringing new features. This concerns the Integra DRX-8.4, Onkyo TX-RZ70 and Pioneer VSX-LX805 models launched in spring 2023.

Auro 3D compatibility and Roon Ready certification

Among the additions, note compatibility with the immersive Auro 3D sound format, similar to DTS:X and Dolby Atmos, as well as Roon Ready certification for perfect integration within the Roon ecosystem allowing, for example, adapt the quality of the audio stream played on streaming services to the capabilities of the device.

STBM update, Dolby Atmos on Amazon Music HD and Pre-Amp mode

Also announced are the Source-Based Tone Mapping (SBTM) process allowing the management of part of the HDR mapping by the source device, to automatically optimize the signal, and Dolby Atmos Music decoding for the Amazon Music HD platform. For its part, if Pre-Amp mode is activated (Pre-Out outputs used), it is possible to completely deactivate the power stage for operation exclusively in pre-amplifier mode. Thus, interference and background noise are eliminated and power consumption drops significantly.

Improved Dirac Live calibration

Finally an improvement to the Dirac Live correction system is also on the menu. With delay compensation now of 50 ms maximum instead of 20 ms, the calibration of speakers placed relatively far from the listening point is possible. For fine calibration even in the largest spaces.
