PlayStation VR 2, immersive trailer

Games and features are highlighted in this new trailer for PlayStation VR 2, the upcoming virtual reality headset for PlayStation 5.

Scheduled for early 2023, Sony's PSVR 2 headset for PS5 is unveiled through an interesting trailer showing some games like Horizon Call of the Mountain or Resident Evil Village through the prism of the device's features, to start with Ultra HD 4K HDR rendering, and a resolution of 2000 x 2040 pixels for each eye.

PlayStation VR 2, eye tracking sensors and foveal rendering

Then comes the tracking of eye movement via eye tracking sensors, allowing for example to make selections on the screen just with the gaze. This same tracking is at the center of the foveal rendering. In other words, the graphic rendering is sharper where the eye is looking, and blurry elsewhere. Thus, image processing is less CPU-intensive, allowing the latter to handle other game-related tasks.

PlayStation VR 2, Tempest 3D audio and 110° viewing angle

The video also mentions a viewing angle of 110°, the touch detection of the Sense controllers as well as the adaptive triggers for an increased feeling of play. The headset itself features haptic feedback to "feel" objects near your head. Finally, Sony's Tempest 3D audio offers even more realistic surround rendering.
