Klipsch Reference Base 2022, R-50M/R-40M bookshelf speakers and Dolby Atmos R-40SA

After a presentation in our columns yesterday of the new Klipsch Reference Base 2022 floorstanding speakers, it's time today for the R-40M and R-50M bookshelf models, and the R-40SA Dolby Atmos Height speakers.

There are therefore two bookshelf speakers in the Reference 2022 series, namely the Klipsch R-50M and Klipsch R-40M references, plus a Klispch R-40SA surround speaker (see photo below). The latter is special because, if it can be used in surround, for example fixed to the wall to take into account their inclination, they can also act as a Dolby Atmos module intended to complement the Klipsch R-800F, Klipsch R-600F columns. and Klipsch R-605FA.

Klipsch R-50M and Klipsch R-40M, Klispch R-40SA, acoustic package

Technically, these Klipsch Reference loudspeakers incorporate all of the brand's audio DNA, starting with an unprecedented 90° x 90° Tractrix horn with wide distribution and in edge-to-edge configuration (the horn occupies the entire width of the speaker, see photo above of the Klipsch R-50M) for sound dispersion, but also maximum precision and clarity. The soundstage is therefore also widened. This horn is combined with an LTS (Linear Travel Suspension) aluminum tweeter with Kapton suspension. This offers minimum distortion.

Similarly, boomers benefit from the Klipsch TCP (Thermoformed Crystalline Polymer) process with a revised cone geometry for the 2022 vintage (see photo below). The polymer material combines rigidity and lightness for an even more impactful rendering of low frequencies. To come back to the cones of these loudspeakers, they benefit from an accentuated hollow shape and thus approach the profile of the loudspeakers of the Klipsch Reference Premiere speakers (presentation to come). Namely, the Klipsch R-50M and Klipsch R-40M are bass-reflex loaded.

Klipsch R-50M and Klipsch R-40M, Klispch R-40SA, Bulk Specs

Last details, in bulk, the Klipsch Reference speakers feature magnetic grilles, a scratch-resistant wood-effect vinyl finish and, of course, the brand's trademark copper-colored cones. Note for these 2022 models, the absence of screws on the front for a magnified aesthetic.
