Apple Watch 8, ready to save even more lives!

A feature of the new watchOS9 will allow future Apple Watches to monitor cardiac arrhythmias more closely.

Apple has received FDA (Food and Drug Administration) clearance to improve its Apple Watch Electrocardiogram application for further detection of AFib.

AFib or atrial fibrillation now detected by Apple Watch

Also called atrial fibrillation, this is an irregular heartbeat that can cause stroke, blood clots, heart failure, and other serious effects. At the moment, the Apple Watch can only detect AFib on an ad hoc basis, which has already saved at least one life. With this enhancement, Apple's smartwatch will now be able to monitor AFib over 14-day periods, for even more accurate diagnoses. For reference, AFib affects 9% of the population over the age of 65, and 2% of people below.

Our “Apple Watch Saves Another Life” saga is therefore not about to come to an end, and that's good.
