We want streaming in transport

Consumers crave streaming video, even when they are away from home.

Marketing company Vericast (via Advanced Television) surveyed over 1,000 American adults about their smart TV usage habits. It emerges that a majority want to consume video away from home, even during long journeys by plane or train.

Roll on self-driving cars

26% of respondents have already streamed video during a flight and 36% on long journeys by car, a figure that would rise to 50% if available devices and connection quality were not a brake. The study also reveals a growing interest in streaming in public transport, taxis and carpooling.

“Technological advancements like 5G and greater accessibility of transportation like self-driving cars will continue to increase the availability of streaming options for consumers,” says Michelle Engle of Vericast.
