Sony PlayStation 6: Release delayed to 2029, the delay is confirmed

As memory chip prices continue to rise, rumors are growing louder about a delay to the next generation of PlayStation.
Based on the release history of previous consoles, initial analyses estimated the arrival of the new PlayStation 6 in 2027. Since the beginning of the year, however, rumors have been increasingly circulating about a delay to 2028 or even 2029. These rumors were recently corroborated by the publisher Embracer Group. The soaring cost of RAM is being blamed. "There are some challenges related to the volatility of tariffs in the United States, as well as an impact due to the global increase in the price of AI-powered RAM," the group explains. "These two factors could potentially have a negative effect on console sales prices, which in turn would slow market growth. In the longer term, rising RAM costs could also lead to operational delays in the launch of future consoles." Moreover, some analysts believe that Sony is now considering postponing the release of its next PlayStation console from 2027 to 2028, or even 2029. Sony's strategic silence explains why Sony remains silent about the next generation. Not even a small teaser, because a new machine announced too early could have a negative impact on sales of the current generation.
