Filming has officially wrapped on Kockroach, a crime thriller set in 1950s New York starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, and Zazie Beetz.
The story follows a mysterious outsider from the New York criminal underworld who transforms into a flamboyant kingpin in a city where power is everything. "It's a wrap!" Filmed over the past seven weeks in Sydney, Australia, the movie was discussed by Chris Hemsworth on Instagram, where the actor shared several photos from the set. These include period sets, such as a movie theater showing "Twelve Angry Men," released in 1957. Alec Baldwin, Rachel Sennott, and Brian Geraghty round out the cast. Originally, the roles now played by Hemsworth and Egerton were intended for Channing Tatum and Oscar Isaac, respectively. Suffice it to say, the project has a certain ambition. With the production designer of Mad Max: Fury Road, Kockroach is directed by Matt Ross (Captain Fantastic), from a screenplay by Jonathan Ames (You Were Never Really Here), reworked by Ross. The film is adapted from the novel by William Lashner. The technical team also confirms the ambition of the project, with production designer Colin Gibson (Mad Max: Fury Road), director of photography Adam Arkapaw (True Detective season 1), and visual effects supervisor Jonathan Dearing (The Invisible Man). Kockroach does not yet have a release date.
