Roland Garros smashes piracy

In response to the rise of illegal IPTV, Arcom is experimenting for the first time with blocking live IP addresses during the French Open.
Piracy causes significant revenue losses for broadcasters, particularly for live sports content. Arcom (the French Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication) is therefore taking advantage of the current Roland Garros tennis tournament to test its techniques for blocking suspicious IP addresses for the first time. During the matches, rights holders identify illegal IPTV server streams and report them to Arcom. The regulatory agency then contacts the main internet service providers (Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom, Free) to immediately block the IP address in question. Arcom specifies that it chose Roland Garros for its duration, prestige, and the variety of match times. Next step: apply these same techniques to bigger events like the FIFA World Cup, which starts on June 11th.
