What's planned for Apple's 50th anniversary?

Apple CEO Tim Cook discusses the company's 50th anniversary, which will be celebrated on April 1st.
The funniest April Fool's joke of recent decades started in 1976, on April 1st, the date on which Apple was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. And if you can count as well as we do, this coming April 1st will mark the company's 50th anniversary, a significant milestone for this company which, whatever one may think of it, has truly changed the world on several occasions, notably by popularizing home computing and launching the smartphone era. A word from Tim Cook, Apple's CEO: In anticipation of this occasion, Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, recently addressed the company's employees in these terms (reported by Bloomberg): "Lately, I've been thinking more than usual about Apple as we work on how to mark this moment, 50 years. It's an extraordinary achievement. We've been digging through the archives, looking at old photos." We revisited the products, the services, the people, and I'm struck by everything Apple has changed, how Apple has transformed the world, everything Apple has brought to the world. Will we celebrate that? You can be sure we will. We're not ready to say exactly how yet, so stay tuned. And to continue: We're not a culture that looks back. So, the group of people working on this project has had to develop new habits, because our natural reflex is always to think about what's next. We've had to work hard to adopt a more introspective mindset. But when you really stop to reflect on the last 50 years, it makes your heart sing. It really does. I promise you there will be a celebration. A celebration within the company, certainly, but there's no doubt the public will be touched in some way by this milestone. We don't know how yet, but count on us to tell you as soon as the news breaks.
