A singular rhythm that is nevertheless immediately familiar to the franchise, a careful recreation of the 1970s, offbeat black humor, and real horror generosity: everything seems to be in place to elevate the series to a particularly high level. The cast is on board and the young vacationers, hippies first and foremost, seem destined to serve as perfect cannon fodder for Jason and, above all, his mother. Enough to raise hopes for a series capable of surpassing a good part of the franchise whose origins it tells. In any case, this trailer suggests far more than that.
Terrible Mom
This 8-episode series follows Pam Voorhees, a single mother who cannot overcome her grief after the tragic drowning of her young, frail son Jason in the town lake nearly a year earlier. When two strangers show up at Pam’s door and begin digging into her past, a troubling chain of events is set in motion, leading the residents of Crystal Lake to wonder: who is Pam Voorhees really?
Death as an inheritance
Linda Cardellini, seen notably in Dead to Me and DTF St. Louis, plays Pamela Voorhees, the killer from the original 1980 film. Her son Jason, not ultimately as dead as one might have believed, will then take over to become the indestructible iconic killer of the franchise. Callum Vinson, Danielle Kotch, Phoenix Parnevik, Cameron Scoggins, Nick Cordileone, William Catlett and Devin Kessler complete the cast.
Brad Caleb Kane, already at the helm of It: Welcome to Derry, serves as creator and showrunner of the series. The 8 episodes will be available in the United States on October 15 on Peacock. In France, Crystal Lake will be broadcast on HBO Max during 2026, with no exact release date announced at this time.
