An auction platform reserved for “exceptional objects,” Catawiki offers this collection of 56 iPhones, that is, all the models sold by Apple since 2007.
Estimated between €65,000 and €80,000 -a trifle when you know that some individual models sold for $190,000- this collection was assembled by an enthusiast from Brittany, an iPhone lover since his very first purchase in 2007 when he was 18. Except for the first iPhone 2G, all the models in this collection are sealed in their original packaging.
An exceptional Breton collection
“What makes this collection particularly interesting is that it tells as much the story of the iPhone as the evolution of our relationship with technology, explains Toby Wickwire, Senior Expert in Video Games and Collectible Computer Objects at Catawiki. In less than twenty years, the smartphone has gone from a relatively new technological object to a cultural object that we keep, collect and now look at with a certain nostalgia”.
“I bought my first iPhone at 18, and I never would have imagined that it would be the origin of a collection that would last nearly twenty years,” says Camille, a French collector and Apple enthusiast. “I took great pleasure in tracking down each generation and following the brand’s evolution. Today, I am happy to be able to pass this collection on to another enthusiast, who in turn will be able to write the rest of its story.”
UPDATED (14/09/26): the collection eventually sold for €35,000. The happy buyer can congratulate himself on this very reasonable price.
