Swiss investment firm UBS recently sent a note to its clients, revealing information gleaned about the foldable iPhone that is expected to be released in late 2026.
Foldable iPhone cheaper to produce than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold SE££££
We learned in particular that the BOM - for Bill of Materials (or "cost of production" in French) - of the device would be $759, or 4% less ($790) than that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold SE, the luxury version of the Z Fold 6 released at the end of last year.
A factor that should be felt on the consumer selling price: whereas the foldable iPhone was previously estimated between €2,000 and €2,400 (approximately €1,720 and €2,060), its price could fall between €1,800 and €2,000 (€1,550 and €1,720). UBS adds that Apple's late arrival in the foldable sector would be a good thing. Indeed, the supply chain is now more mature than when it started and the technology improves year on year, allowing Apple to produce a more powerful device, but also less expensive than expected.
The firm further explains, like other analysts before it, that Apple's arrival in this market should accelerate the adoption of portable devices in the long term, smartphones but also tablets and laptops.
