Disney finally in Ultra HD 4K HDR10 quality on PlayStation 5

We had to wait nearly two years after the launch of the PlayStation 5 to enjoy the Disney+ streaming service in Ultra HD 4K HDR10 quality. The firm with big ears has indeed just offered a new version of its application for PS5.

As you all know, many of the apps that were released on PS4 are available on PS5. On the other hand, few of them are updated to take advantage of the specifications of the PS5. This was the case with Disney+, which until now was limited to HD resolution (1080p).

Voices over to Jerrell Jimerson, EVP of Product & Design, Disney Streaming

To install the new version of the application, simply download it from the Media section of the console. "A key part of our global expansion strategy is to meet consumers wherever they are, which is why we're excited to enhance Disney+ for PlayStation 5 users," said Jerrell Jimerson, EVP of Product & Design, Disney Streaming. The ability to support 4K HDR video streaming on the platform will also improve the viewing experience for fans.”

Disney+ PS5, no HDR Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos

Namely, if HDR10 is required, the new Disney + application does not support HDR Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos. Disney has nothing to do with it, the fault lies with the PlayStation 5 which does not support the latest formats from Dolby.
