Ray-Ban Meta Audio smart glasses without a camera: the anti-pervert solution?

On the occasion of its major back-to-school event, Meta Connect 2026, the company unveiled several new products, including the Ray-Ban Meta Audio. As their name suggests, these connected glasses abandon the visual dimension to focus exclusively on audio.

 

An acknowledged limitation in the face of criticism Indeed, the glasses are camera-free. They are therefore limited to the functions one would expect from wireless audio headphones, namely music playback, phone calls (via a smartphone connected by [abc]Bluetooth[/abc]), and hands-free interaction with the brand’s smart assistant. This acknowledged hardware limitation is akin to a concrete response to the strong criticism this type of product faces, regularly singled out for the abuses and invasions of privacy made possible by wearing a “hidden camera.”

 

Reduced weight and improved battery life Beyond the security and ethical aspects, the absence of the optical sensor brings other undeniable hardware advantages. The Ray-Ban Meta Audio thus benefit from a much lighter weight on the nose (the manufacturer აცხადებს approximately 43 g). They also offer greater battery life, providing up to 12 hours of continuous use, and even 48 hours in total by relying on the reserve in their charging case.
