The story begins 18 years after the murder of Evelyn and Caleb Amspoker's son, a case that was never solved and that shook America. When a stranger appears and confesses to being the perpetrator of the crime, the parents finally glimpse the possibility of obtaining justice. But their hope collapses when they learn that the murderer could benefit from a reduced sentence. Faced with this unbearable prospect, Evelyn and Caleb decide to take justice into their own hands.
