Nearly ten years after its launch, which revolutionized the design of the brand's smartphones, the iconic iPhone X has definitively bowed out. The Cupertino company has just added this anniversary model to its list of "obsolete" products, thus marking the end of any possibility of official repair.
After the iPhone 4 8GB and the iPhone 5 last March, another iconic device has joined Apple's archives. The Californian manufacturer recently updated its list of "obsolete" products, which now includes the iPhone X, the famous model introduced in 2017 to celebrate the first decade of the line. iPhone X: The End of Official Repairs. Generally, an Apple smartphone officially becomes "obsolete" about seven years after it is discontinued. In practical terms, this means that it can no longer be repaired by Apple's after-sales service, and the company also stops supplying spare parts to third-party repairers. Before reaching this point of no return, devices pass through the "vintage" category (approximately five years after their discontinuation), indicating that they are no longer for sale but remain repairable subject to parts availability. The iPhone X, the smartphone that changed everything; Apple stopped selling the iPhone X in its own stores in September 2018, although many third-party retailers continued to sell it afterward. This device marked a major turning point for the company at the time: it was distinguished by the historic disappearance of the Touch ID home button, replaced by the brand-new Face ID facial recognition system. The result was a screen occupying almost the entire front of the device and introduced the now-famous notch at the top to house the front-facing sensors. A design that has permanently reshaped the mobile industry.
