iPhone Air, out of breath?

Despite a more than remarkable design, it seems that ultra-thin smartphones are not really appealing to the public.
Samsung at the beginning of the year with the Galaxy S25 Edge, and more recently Apple with the iPhone Air, the major smartphone manufacturers have this year bet on the ultra-thin smartphone. A bet that does not seem to be so successful, however. iPhone Air, contrary to the success of the iPhone 17££££ While the limited success of the S25 Edge could see this model already disappear from the 2026 range, the iPhone Air is apparently also struggling to find its audience. This is what the Japanese firm Mizuho Securities reveals (via the Korean site The Elec), explaining that the order for iPhone Air will be revised downwards this year. More specifically, production is expected to drop by 1 million units, while the other iPhones released simultaneously will experience the opposite fate, a sign of their good health on the market: an additional 2 million for the iPhone 17, 1 million for the iPhone 17 Pro and 4 million for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It remains to be seen whether Apple will be as quick as Samsung to abandon this new model or if the manufacturer will at least give it a second chance in 2026. AVcesar is betting on the latter option, knowing that the iPhone Mini and iPhone Plus have had at least two annual iterations before being abandoned.
