Foldable iPhone delayed to 2027?

Due to technical difficulties related to its production, the foldable iPhone, which was expected for the end of 2026, could not arrive until the following year.

According to Japanese investment bank Mizuho Securities (via Korean website The Elec), the launch of the very first iPhone with a foldable screen would be postponed to 2027, whereas all rumors saw it arrive at the end of next year.

Reasons given for this delay, still undefined choices on crucial elements such as the hinge, as well as the production difficulties linked to this type of complex device, which Apple is designing for the first time. However, the foldable iPhone could appear in September 2026, but in this case, the production volume would be revised downwards, i.e. 5 to 7 million fewer units.

The bank also corroborates previous reports about Apple's new timeline, with the iPhone 18 and 18th launching in spring 2027, and the premium models - iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Air and possibly the foldable iPhone - in September 2026, as usual.
