iPhone 17 Air, meh battery?

The new ultra-thin iPhone for the fall of 2025 is expected to suffer from reduced battery life, and Apple will (once again) release a battery case to compensate.

Still at the (well-fed) rumor stage, the iPhone 17 Air for the next fall would benefit from a record thickness of 5.5 mm, a feat that would unfortunately come at the cost of sacrifices.

Indeed, according to a recent report from the well-informed The Information, the iPhone 17 Air would have a reduced battery life compared to the usual models. Thus, according to internal tests, only 60% to 70% of users could use the device for a whole day without recharging, while the figure is 80% to 90% for other iPhones. To achieve this reduced thickness, Apple would therefore have also reduced that of the battery, which was to be expected. But to compensate, The Information reports that the company would launch a battery case, an accessory not seen since the iPhone 11 era (see photo above). As its name suggests, this accessory allows you to both protect and charge the iPhone, wirelessly.

The site finally adds that the success of this new model being uncertain, Apple's suppliers would initially dedicate only 10% of their production capacity from the iPhone 17 range to the iPhone 17 Air.
