Kung Fu Panda 4, first animated film in HFR TrueCut Motion

At the cinema on March 27, Kung Fu Panda 4 will be projected at 48 frames per second in TrueCut Motion HFR in a selection of equipped cinemas.

After Avatar, Avatar: the Way of Water, Titanic and Argylle, the new Kung Fu Panda 4 is the fifth film to benefit from TrueCut Motion High Frame Rate (HFR) processing at 48 frames per second in 3D and 2D. This is, by the way, the first film from DreamWorks Animation and the first animated film in this format.

HFR TrueCut Motion, freedom of movement££££

To summarize, TrueCut Motion technology makes it possible to preserve the cinematic aspect of a work, even if it displays HFR (number of images per second greater than 24). We remember, for example, the films The Hobbit by Peter Jackson, whose capture in 48 frames per second gave a soap opera effect criticized by some. Nothing like this with the TrueCut Motion process: action scenes with lots of movement or panning would be fluid for perfect readability of the images on the screen. Without going into detail, TrueCut Motion allows you to control movement factors, such as jerk and blur, scene by scene, by changing the display frequency to 48 frames per second, 60, 96 or even 120. , during the post-production stage.

It is not yet known whether the home version of Kung Fu Panda 4 will benefit from TrueCut Motion HFR, but please note that some of the existing TrueCut Motion HFR titles are available on the Apple Vision Pro headset via the Apple TV and Disney+ apps.
