How much do Apple Vision Pro components cost?

Screens, processors and other parts, the components of the Apple Vision Pro headset do not even represent half of its selling price.

Marketed from $3,500 (indicative price), the Apple Vision Pro is clearly the ultimate in virtual and augmented reality headsets. Last year in May 2023, a few weeks before it was officially presented, rumors already revealed an estimate of its cost, i.e. the price of its components alone: between $1,500 and $1,600.

Production cost of an Apple Vision Pro estimated at $1,542 by Omdia££££

The estimate was recently confirmed by the market analysis and research firm Omdia, which evaluates this cost at precisely $1,542. In detail, the most expensive element is the double 23 million pixel Oled screen (more than the Ultra HD 4K definition), at $456 for both screens. Next are the proprietary M2 and R1 chips, $240 for both. Naturally, these valuations don't mean Apple pockets $2,000 in profit for every headset sold. It is indeed necessary to add to the components the cost of research and development, manufacturing, packaging, marketing, transport, marketing and other ancillary costs. Most of these costs are expected to be amortized as new versions of the headset come to market.
