AirPods Pro 2: USB box available for purchase alone

It is now possible to upgrade your second generation AirPods Pro to USB-C, without necessarily buying a new pair of headphones.

Forced by the European Union to abandon its Lightning format for the USB-C standard, Apple launched at the start of the 2023 school year the very first iPhones equipped with this standard, as well as new AirPods Pro 2 with a case also USB-C.

However, if AirPods Pro 2 owners wanted to switch to USB for their headphones, they would have to abandon their headphones and obtain the “new” AirPods Pro 2 accompanied by the updated case, the latter does not not being sold separately. A shortcoming recently corrected since it is now possible to purchase on the Apple site a USB-C charging case for AirPods Pro 2 which will work with the headphones previously marketed without the latter.

The accessory is sold at the indicative price of €109, a sum significantly lower than that necessary to purchase AirPods Pro 2 USB-C. Good news ? Yes, but be aware that this USB-C box will not give your old headphones the benefit of the few exclusive features of the “new” ones, namely dust resistance and Lossless file reading with the future Apple Vision Pro headset (which does not would arrive here only in 2025, so... that's okay actually).
