Siri fired, replaced by ChatGPT?

Apple is having such difficulty making its Siri assistant smarter that the company is considering partnering with specialists in the field, such as OpenAI and Claude, to get out of the hole.

As we know, Apple is working hard to improve its Siri assistant to bring it up to par with the most prominent chatbots of the moment, like ChatGPT.

But the company jumped on the AI bandwagon late and is still struggling to get up to speed quickly. According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Apple could "train" Siri by partnering with AI chatbot specialists like OpenAI (ChatGPT) or Anthropic (Claude). These systems would then become the new backbone of the improved Siri.

The two aforementioned companies are reportedly currently training versions of their models that would work with Apple's private cloud servers. Apple is therefore in the testing phase and has not yet made the decision to completely abandon the current system behind Siri.

AI Boost for Siri, Anthropic would hold the lead££££

For the moment, Anthropic's AI models appear to be the most compatible with Siri and preliminary financial agreements have already been discussed between the two companies. Also according to Bloomberg, Anthropic is asking for a few billion dollars per year, renegotiable upwards, explaining why Apple is considering other options like OpenAI. Such a call for external AI modules could only be temporary, while Apple's own models are efficient enough to be deployed. One day...
