Bowers & Wilkins Serie 600 S3: 8th generation of Hi-Fi & Home Cinema speakers

Two years after the presentation of the new range of B&W Serie 600 Anniversary Edition speakers, the British manufacturer announces the Bowers & Wilkins Serie 600 S3 series. Almost everything is new. Presentation.

We therefore find with this recent Bowers & Wilkins Serie 600 Anniversary Edition the four references of the 600 series 2020 vintage, but in an improved version.

References Bowers & Wilkins Serie 600 S3

The references are therefore as follows: B&W 603 S3 for the three-way column, B&W 606 S3 and B&W 607 S3 for the two two-way libraries (different sizes) and B&W HTM6 S3 for the two-way central unit. Of course, the valiant B&W ASW610 and B&W ASW608 subwoofers are still available to officiate with these new references for anyone wishing to configure a Home Cinema set.

Bowers & Wilkins Serie 600 S3, new acoustic package

On the program for this eighth generation of B&W Series 600 speakers, equally at home in Hi-Fi or Home Cinema configuration, a new 25 mm tweeter with a titanium dome and an elongated load tube (see photo below below), like the B&W Series 700 speakers. Likewise, its grille is also new to improve sound dispersion (like the B&W Series 800 D4 speakers).

The midrange, still equipped with a Continuum FST membrane, is also unique through its motor for an ever more balanced result (see photo above). For its part, if the woofer present on the B&W 603 S3 takes the paper membrane of the B&W 603 S2 speaker, the motor also evolves. Of course, all of the crossovers have been reviewed and optimized via the integration of premium bypass capacitors (see photo below). In terms of developments, we can also cite a Flowport vent coming directly from the B&W Series 700 S3 range. Last clarification, the terminal blocks are also new (see photo below).

Finally, the placement of the speakers differs on the B&W Series 600 S3 compared to the S2. The tweeter and the main speaker are closer to each other here: we see in the photos that the finishing rings of the latter cross on the front. The aim is to improve the stereo image and the spot effect of the sound source.

Bowers & Wilkins Serie 600 S3, new cabinetry

B&W has also improved the rigidity of the Series 600 S3 speakers through the use of superior quality wood for the internal reinforcements.
