Panasonic MZ800, 4K Ultra HD OLED TV: 42'', 48'', 55'' and 65''

Continued by our roundup of the 2023 TV range from manufacturer Panasonic after a presentation to the press last week in Berlin. After our spotlight on the Panasonic MZ2000 and Panasonic MZ1500 Oled TV series, and the Panasonic MX950 Mini LED series, it's time for the Panasonic MZ800 from Oled obedience.

If the Panasonic MZ2000 series, as announced at the CES show in Las Vegas 2023, consists of three references (the Panasonic TX-55MZ2000, Panasonic TX-65MZ2000 and Panasonic TX-77MZ2000), the MZ800 series has four, the Panasonic TX-42MZ800, Panasonic TX-48MZ800, Panasonic TX-55M8500 and Panasonic TX-65M8500, like the Panasonic MZ1500.

Before going any further in the description of the Panasonic-MZ800 televisions, it is important to note that these models are the brand's first OLED broadcasters to offer the Smart TV Google TV function.

Panasonic MZ800: basic Oled panel

The Panasonic MZ800 series TVs have a basic OLED panel, which is limited to 60 hertz. No Oled EX technology either, let alone Meta/MLA. Their peak light should therefore oscillate between 600 and 700 nits. Similarly, the HCX Pro AI Processor is replaced by the 4K Color Engine Pro chip. In the HDR chapter, we find the management of HDR0 +, HDR10, HDR HLG and HDR Dolby Vision technologies. We still notice the Filmmaker mode.

Panasonic MZ800: Google TV and Dolby Atmos compatibility

The Google TV function, in addition to Google Play and its applications of all kinds, offers the OK Google voice assistant, the Chromecast function (integrated) and a Mirrorring mode. The audio section, 2.1, delivers a total power of 32 W (2 x 10 W + 12 W for the subwoofer). Dolby Atmos compatibility is included.

HDMI 2.1 connector

In terms of connectivity, there are, among other things, three HDMI 2.0 inputs (including one with the eARC function. Namely, the ALLM mode is included and, given the nature of the panel, 4K compatibility / 120 is of course absent, ditto for the VRR mode. The rest of the connectors mention an optical output, two USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, a headphone output and a CI+ port.

Availability announced for this Indicative prices: €1,699 for the Panasonic TX-48MZ800, €1,799 for the Panasonic TX-42MZ800, €1,999 for the Panasonic TX-55MZ800 and €2,749 for the Panasonic TX-65MZ800.
