Yamaha R-N1000A, MusicCast multi-room Hi-Fi amplifier, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth/DLNA

After the Yamaha R-N2000A appeared a year ago, the Japanese manufacturer is completing its range of multiroom connected Hi-Fi amplifiers with two new references, the Yamaha R-N800A and Yamaha R-N1000A. Presentation of the last named before returning later to the first.

First remark, like the Yamaha R-N2000A, the Japanese manufacturer with the R-N1000A always refers to the brand's old equipment that has become classics with a now timeless design and statutory sobriety.

Yamaha R-N1000A, Main Specifications

In short, the Yamaha R-N1000A shares a lot of its specs and features with the R-N2000A, even if the latter are all a bit below. Nothing too bad, however, given the indicative price of the R-N1000A, which is significantly more affordable than that of the R-N2000A, at €1,599 (compared to €3,699). Illuminated level meters, for example, are no longer needed on the front. Similarly, if the connectors of the Yamaha R-N1000A remain identical to those of the R-N2000A, it is no longer golden and the four screw terminals are here in plastic material.

The Yamaha R-N1000A amplification delivers 2 x 220 W into 4 ohms (2 x 145 W into 8 ohms), the legs are anti-resonance specimens, the power transformer, block capacitors and capacitors audio are models developed to measure according to the specifications of the Japanese manufacturer, who previously ensured that the components worked perfectly together.

Similarly, the amplifier section takes advantage of a screw ground connection and a thick wire to reinforce the ground to eliminate the influence of voltage fluctuations and external background noise, elements important for sound quality. Finally, the brand's Top-Art (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology)

label is on the Yamaha R-N1000A: symmetrical left/right layout and low-vibration chassis equipped with the special Art Base resin frame that eliminates unwanted vibrations.

Yamaha R-N1000A, YPAO RCS Calibration

The Yamaha R-N1000A benefits from optimized acoustic calibration (with microphone) YPAO RCS (taking into account the acoustics of the room to correct the frequency of each speaker according to sound reflection).

Yamaha R-N1000A, MusicCast on the program

It has now become a habit on the brand's equipment, the Yamaha R-N1000A benefits from the Yamaha MusicCast multiroom functionality. In terms of sound reproduction, the quality should be there with the presence of an ESS Saber 9080Q 384 kHz/32 bit converter.

The Yamaha R-N1000A also meets the consumption needs of music lovers with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and AirPlay 2 compatibility. It is therefore easy to enjoy audio content stored on a device wirelessly. suitable: smartphone or tablet (Android or iOS), computer, game console, etc. Likewise, it directly accesses various streaming music services (Amazon Music HD, Deezer, Qobuz, Spotify, Tidal, etc.) and Web radios (vTuner). Finally, the UPnP (DLNA) audio gateway function, wireless via Wi-Fi ac Dual Band or through the Ethernet port, for its part, allows access, for example, to a Nas hard drive to enjoy the audio files available.

Of course, the Yamaha R-N1000A can send the sound of a sound source connected to it to other MusicCast devices in a home, even that coming from a mobile device via Bluetooth. MusicCast requires, always, the reading of high resolution files is included, Alac, Wav, Flac, AIFF up to 192 kHz/24 bits, without forgetting MP3, WMA and AAC files. We also note the support for very high resolution 2.8/5.6/11.2 MHz DSD files.

Yamaha R-N1000A, rich features and connectivity

There is also the Gapless function, an AM/FM tuner with forty storable stations and an Eco mode, plus a DAB+ tuner. Namely, the Yamaha R N1000A is fully controllable via the free Android/iOS MusicCast Controller app. The connectors include two optical inputs, one coaxial, three RCA stereo line inputs, one RCA Phono input, one RCA stereo Pre-Out output, one USB-B port, one Ethernet port, one subwoofer output and one headphone output, plus four terminal blocks screws (A/B). Not to mention an HDMI connector with the ARC function to recover the sound of a television. Two finishes are announced: silver and black.
