In the wake of the Game of Thrones derivative works mentioned in 2021, and after House of the Dragon, HBO is formalizing a new series: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: the Hedge Night.
The Great and his little squire
The official pitch: “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes roamed Westeros… A naïve but brave young knight, Ser Duncan the Great, and his little squire, Egg. Set at a time when the Targaryen bloodline still rules the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon is still fondly remembered, great destinies, mighty foes, and dangerous exploits await these unlikely and incomparable friends.”
The series is based on three short stories by George RR Martin, released in the space of ten years: The Errant Knight (1998), The Liege Sword (2003), and The Dragon's Egg ( 2010). No release date yet, but A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will arrive on Max, the new name of the HBO Max platform.
