Netflix: anti-password sharing rule, forget everything it was a mistake…

The Internet has been enjoying the new anti-password sharing procedure published on its site by Netflix for 24 hours and whose implementation is planned by the streaming service by the end of March 2023 (see our Netflix news : the hunt for password sharing is (soon) on). Since then, Netflix explains that the published rules were the result of an error…

Indeed, shortly after they were put online, most of the anti-password sharing rules disappeared. Only the section relating to the validation of a trusted device located outside the main household (in the event of a trip by one of its members for example) is still present.

Netflix password anti-sharing rule, the complexity of setting…

The idea mentioned by Netflix consists, when connecting a device from a place separate from the household (a computer in a hotel room for example) in sending an e-mail or an SMS to the holder account with a four-digit code to be entered on the device in question within 15 minutes (watch out for the time difference), to enjoy your favorite series(es)/film(s). The part on validating the devices present in the household (Smart TV, tablet, multimedia box, etc.), necessary at least once a month for them to retain their right of access to the streaming platform, has therefore disappeared.

Netflix password anti-sharing rule, error or probe?

Following the first publication of the procedure regulating account password sharing, Netflix therefore explained that this was an error, concerning only the territories of South America, Chile, Costa Rica and Peru. A mistake ? Truly ? While the procedure was available in English and French on the company's sites, one can legitimately ask the question of a deliberate disclosure on the part of Netflix, just to probe the ground...

See you now before the end of March to find out the details of the anti-password sharing rules to come in our regions.
