IFA 22 > Philips OLED907 TV: Oled EX panel, P5 Gen6, Game Bar, Ambilight, DTS Play-Fi, 1,300 nits…

Philips has just announced at its IFA 2022 press conference the new Philips OLED907 and Philips OLED937 OLED TV series. Presentation of the first named before returning later to the second.

The Philips OLED907 series has three references, the Philips 48OLED907 (48'', 122 cm), Philips 55OLED907 (55'', 140 cm) and Philips 65OLED907 (65'', 165 cm). And, to put it simply, the specifications of these televisions are based on those of the Philips OLED807 TV series, modulo a few changes.

Philips OLED907 and Philips OLED807, what differences?

In terms of changes between the OLED807 and OLED907 TVs, we can mention a 3.1 sound bar with an 80 W power from Bowers & Wilkins with a minimalist design, perfectly integrated under the screen panel. Equipped with six speakers in an LCR (Left, Center, Right) configuration, it delivers a wide sound stage and perfectly intelligible dialogue. It is supported by a large subwoofer located at the back of the TV accompanied by four passive membranes.

We can also mention a new three-sided Ambilight function. The latter now manages the color diodes placed at the back of the TV, on the edge of the panel, independently and no longer by groups of diodes for a significantly more precise synchronization with the images displayed on the screen. Finally, the new Ambilight Aurora gallery feature, rich in numerous embedded images and videos, allows as many exclusive artistic atmospheres in your living room.

P5 Gen6, the heart of Philips OLED907 TVs

On the menu of all these TV series, and featured, the sixth generation of the P5 processor blended with artificial intelligence for a magnified HDR experience (see our news Philips P5 Engine Gen6 processor: HDR10+ Adaptive, Calman Ready, Ambient Intelligence, Imax Enhanced…). We therefore find all the features associated with this new chip: Imax Enhanced label, ambient light sensor, anti-marking system (to counter the Burn-In phenomenon)… Not to mention two HDMI 2.0 inputs and two HDMI 2.1 inputs with eARC compatibility , VRR (from 40 Hz to 120 Hz), HFR 4K/120, ALLM, FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync.

Namely, like the Philips OLED807, a Game Bar is appearing on the Philips OLED907 TVs. This allows users to quickly access game-related settings, changing them on the fly without wasting time (see photos below).

Philips OLED907 TV, Oled EX panel

Similarly, as with the OLED807s, the Philips OLED907 screens feature an Oled EX panel with light performance approximately 30% higher than that of a conventional OLED panel (see our CES 22 news > New Oled EX TV panel from LG Display , 30% more brightness?). The light peak reaches 1300 nits (for a 30% white window). Please note, the Philips 48OLED907 television has a classic Oled panel and not Oled EX.

Ambilight 3 sides and HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR HLG and HDR Dolby Vision

Apart from the brilliant Ambilight process in its new version (see above), in three-sided mode, compatibility with HDR Dolby Vision, HDR HLG and HDR10+ Adaptive technologies is still required. The Smart TV function is still based on Android TV (11.0), still associated with Google Assistant and “Works with Alexa” certification (requires an Amazon Echo Dot type speaker).

3.1 sound system and DTS Play-Fi

As with the OLED807s, in addition to the 3.1 soundbar with an 80 W power already mentioned, the Philips OLED907 Oled TVs benefit from the DTS Play-Fi function allowing the configuration of a 5.1 Home Cinema system without- wire or the integration of the TV within a multiroom system. Namely, an upcoming Firmware update will allow the Philips OLED907 TV to be used as the center channel in a multi-channel setup.

Premium Remote

The remote control for Philips OLED907 TVs is identical to that of the 2021 models, backlit with a metallic finish. The sides and back of these remotes are covered in eco-friendly leather from Scottish specialist Muirhead.

Marketing scheduled for September. Indicative prices: €1,799 for the Philips 48OLED907, €2,199 for the Philips 55OLED907 and €2,999 for the Philips 65OLED907.
