Apple mixed reality headset: second generation in 2025

While Apple still hasn't announced anything official about its plans for augmented/virtual reality, rumors already know when the next versions of the first device will be released. Eh yes…

According to Taiwanese Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the second generation of the mixed reality headset - virtual reality (VR) + augmented reality (AR) - will be launched in the first half of 2025. Information in line with previous rumors which saw the device presented at the end of 2024. This second generation will consist of an improved version of the original device, as well as a cheaper version.

Before the second generation of the mixed reality headset, what about the first?

As for the original model, it should arrive early next year. This helmet could bear the name Apple Vision, or even Apple Reality or Apple Sight. Positioned at the top of the range, it may cost around $3,000, on the one hand because Apple has a habit of being more expensive than the competition, and also because of the very advanced on-board technology. Indeed, the Apple Vision should be equipped with a processor equivalent to the M2 of the latest Mac computers, not to mention 8K Ultra HD screens with eye movement tracking for a more precise and optimized visual rendering.

Still according to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple should have distributed 10 million of its headsets by 2025 or 2026, thanks to the segmentation of its products (mixed reality headset but also AR glasses), and its ecosystem. Source: macrumors
