Yamaha R-N2000A, MusicCast multi-room Hi-Fi amplifier, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth/DLNA

The Japanese manufacturer announces a new stereo, network and multiroom amplifier, the Yamaha R-N2000A. Presentation.

First observation, with the Yamaha R-N2000A, the Japanese manufacturer is once again giving a nod to the brand's old equipment that has become classics with illuminated level meters on the front.

Yamaha R-N2000A, Main Specifications

Equipped with amplification delivering 2 x 120 W at 4 ohms (2 x 90 W at 8 ohms), the R-N2000A benefits from the mechanical isolation concept of premium Yamaha amplifiers with feet and capacitors directly welded to the chassis main, not to mention the presence of a heat sink, with the aim of eliminating unwanted vibrations. Namely, the feet are made of copper and silver plated to improve the frequency response in the low end and enrich the musicality.

Also, the amplification section is independent of the earth connection in order to eliminate the influence of voltage fluctuations and external background noise. Finally, the Yamaha R-N2000A has a toroidal amplifier separated from the chassis by a 3 mm brass base, again to reduce vibrations.

Yamaha R-N2000A, YPAO RCS Calibration

In addition, all components have been carefully selected and tested to ensure optimum quality and cohesion. The Yamaha R-N2000A benefits from optimized acoustic calibration (with microphone) YPAO RCS (taking into account the acoustics of the room to correct the frequency of each speaker according to sound reflection).

Yamaha R-N2000A, MusicCast on the program

It has now become a habit on the brand's equipment, the Yamaha R-N2000A benefits from the Yamaha MusicCast multiroom functionality. In terms of sound reproduction, the quality should be there with the presence of an ESS Saber 9026PRO 384 kHz/24 bit converter. The Yamaha R-N2000A also meets the consumption needs of music lovers with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and AirPlay 2 compatibility. It is therefore easy to enjoy, wirelessly, audio content stored on a suitable device: smartphone or tablet (Android or iOS), computer, game console… Similarly, it directly accesses various streaming music services (Amazon Music HD, Deezer, Qobuz, Spotify, Tidal…) and Web radios (vTuner). Finally, the UPnP (DLNA) audio gateway function, wireless via Wi-Fi or through the Ethernet port, for its part, allows access, for example, to a Nas hard drive to enjoy the audio files available.

Of course, the Yamaha R-N2000A can send the sound of a sound source connected to it to other MusicCast devices in a home, even that coming from a mobile device via Bluetooth. MusicCast requires, always, the reading of high resolution files is included, Alac, Wav, Flac, AIFF up to 192 kHz/24 bits, without forgetting MP3, WMA and AAC files. We also note the support for very high resolution 2.8/5.6/11.2 MHz DSD files.

Yamaha R-N2000A, rich features and connectivity

We note, in addition, the Gapless function, an AM/FM tuner with forty storable stations and an Eco mode. Namely, the Yamaha R N2000A is fully controllable via the free Android/iOS MusicCast Controller app. The connectors include two optical inputs, one coaxial, three RCA stereo line inputs, one RCA Phono input, one RCA stereo Pre-Out output, one USB-B port, one Ethernet port, one subwoofer output and one headphone output, plus four terminal blocks screws (A/B). Plus an HDMI connector with ARC function to get the con from a TV. Two finishes are announced: silver and black.

Availability announced for November 2022. Indicative price still unknown.
