It's done: Amazon just ate the MGM lion

It's official, Amazon has just completed the acquisition of MGM for $8.5 billion.

MGM joins Prime Video and Amazon Studios, bringing in its prestigious wake a considerable catalog of 4,000 films and 17,000 hours of TV programs, including cult franchises such as James Bond, The Pink Panther and the Rockies, as well as great classics , from Basic Instinct to Silence of the Lambs, Poltergeist, Stargate, Robocop, The Thomas Crown Affair, Raging Bull, Thelma & Louise, and many more.

Not all gifts at the same time

However, we will have to wait a little longer before all these programs are added to the Amazon Prime catalog. An operation that could begin next week to spread throughout the year, just to spoil subscribers at the right pace.

The U.S. manager said in a statement, "We welcome MGM employees, creators and talent to Prime Video and Amazon Studios, and we look forward to working together to create even more opportunities and offer quality stories to our customers”. With this acquisition, the competition between platforms goes up a notch and Amazon Prime Video inevitably scores points.
