Let me go vroom vroom zen in my series!

Fast & Furious: a live-action series officially ordered. Peacock has just given the green light to its first series inspired by the Fast & Furious franchise. Mike Daniels (Sons of Anarchy) and Wolfe Coleman (9-1-1: Lone Star) will write the series and serve as co-showrunners. The project was first announced last May, during NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation.

At the time, as many as four different series set in the Fast & Furious universe were in development. Peacock was then supposed to review the four proposals before deciding which ones deserved to shift into high gear. That is now done for at least one of them.

Vin Diesel returns in the Fast & Furious series

Yet we thought we were done with these steroidal mountains of muscle in sleeveless T-shirts, leaning over the hoods of armored cars, eyeing each other askance to see who has the biggest turbo and accelerates the fastest. Not so. You don't just close the hood on a franchise that has grossed more than $7 billion at the worldwide box office in 25 years.

And given the price of gas these days, no wonder Diesel is involved. Vin Diesel will indeed be an executive producer of this new series, expected on Peacock in 2028.
