Denis Villeneuve will adapt the saga SF Rendez-vous with Rama

Denis Villeneuve, director of Dune (January 26 in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, DVD and VOD), will adapt the sci-fi classic Rendezvous with Rama, by author Arthur C. Clarke.

Twenty years ago, this author's novel from 2001: A Space Odyssey had already almost been adapted for the first time by David Fincher with Morgan Freeman and Lori McCreary in production.

The Hollywood Reporter said today that Denis Villeneuve will adapt Rendezvous with Rama for Alcon Entertainment, a studio with which he has already collaborated for Prisoners and Blade Runner 2049.

Who is in charge of Rama?

The story of the novel published in 1973 takes place in 2130 when an unidentified space object is located in the solar system. The cylinder called Rama, which has extraordinary proportions - 30 km long - moves at a third of the speed of light, 100,000 km / h. A group of explorers will intercept the artifact in order to study it and try to discover its nature and provenance. The latter, which seems never to have undergone the slightest alteration of time, contains within it a real miniature world. Who can be in command of Rama?

The novel Rendezvous with Rama is the first part of a saga that has had two sequels. Suffice to say that this future adaptation is destined, if successful, to become a film franchise.
