In short, the Denon AVR-X1700H DAB + of course incorporates all the technical characteristics of the AVR-X1600H, modulo some major developments including the management of HDR10 + signals, HDMI 2.1 connectors, integration of a DAB + tuner or the possibility of applying all the audio processing available on a Dolby signal. Thus, it is now possible on a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack to trigger DTS Virtual: X.
HDMI 2.1, Ultra HD 8K compatible
To come back to the HDMI connectors, in addition to the output, three out of six inputs are of 2.1 obedience, these support all the features of the standard: VRR, ALLM, eARC, QMS, QFT, Ultra HD 4K 120 im / s up to Upscaling in Ultra HD 8K 60 Hz (see our news HDMI 2.1 standard, welcome official additions, technical and ergonomic).
Denon AVR-X1700H, main specifications
For the rest, we find the Dolby Height Virtualization processing and the availability of the Bluetooth TX function (wireless transmitter) to broadcast the audio signal on suitable headphones in addition to the speakers. It is thus possible to enjoy your music on the speakers in the living room but also in the kitchen or the bedroom via a wireless headset.
The rest of the main features
We still notice the possibility of taking advantage of multi-channel decoding in the main zone (the living room most often) and of simultaneously broadcasting the downmixed soundtrack in stereo in Heos zones 2 and 3, the ability to combine in the main zone has a video signal (that of TNT for example) an audio signal coming from another source (for example that of an audio CD). Finally, within a multiroom configuration, there is also the option of distributing a source to another link in the Heos chain (the tuner on several Heos equipment located in other rooms of the home, Denon Home speakers in particular).

On the menu for the Denon AVR-X1700H, Spotify Connect certification, Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 and DTS: X 7.1 processing, AirPlay 2, Dual Band Wi-Fi and TuneIn webradios, UPnP (DLNA) audio gateway , Amazon Music, Deezer, SoundCloud, Tidal compatibility ... Plus an automatic Audyssey MultEQ XT calibration, Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Audyssey Dynamic EQ processes, DSD 2.8 / 5.6 MHz, Flac, Wav and Alac compatibility up to 192 kHz / 24 bits in addition to MP3, WMA and AAC, and the management of a 4 or 8 ohm output impedance. Not to mention the compatibility with the paid application Audyssey MultiEQ Editor and two subwoofer outputs (parallel).
On the HDR side, in addition to the HDR10 + already mentioned, there are HDR10, HDR HLG and HDR Dolby Vision compatibilities, not to mention the management of the BT.2020 gamut. Pass-Throught 4K is also a must.
Alexa, Google and Siri voice assistants
In 2021, the range of Denon audio-video amplifiers has many advanced features, including compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri voice assistants is on the program. Denon, along with Marantz, is the only brand with Sonos to have all three protocols in one device for hands-free control of the amplifier and streaming services.
Optimized manufacturing
Model 7.2, the Denon AVR-X1700H has a power of 7 x 145 W into 6 ohms (7 x 80 W into 8 ohms). Also on the program, an OSD with large characters to configure / control the amplifier comfortably installed, far away, on a sofa and processing to improve the sound rendering of compressed audio files. We still notice an optimized manufacturing in order to reduce the signal path the risks of interference.
Connectors
In terms of connectivity, there are therefore six HDMI CEC inputs - three 2.0b and three 2.1 - HDCP 2.3 certified. These are of course transparent to Deep Color, xvYCC and 3D signal. The HDMI output also supports the eARC function.
There are also two Composite inputs / one output, two optical inputs, two stereo RCA, a phono input, a headphone output, a USB Host port on the front, an Ethernet port plus the two subwoofer outputs already mentioned. Of course, control of the Denon AVR-X1700H is possible via the free Heos App.
