Pathé Rewind: cinema hypnosis to erase memory and rediscover cult films?

The cinema operator Pathé is launching the experimental Pathé Rewind operation in the Netherlands. The concept uses hypnosis to temporarily erase the memory of willing viewers, in order to allow them to rediscover cult feature films such as The Matrix or Interstellar in cinemas with the emotion of the very first time. Yes, really!

The French Pathé network is carrying out an extraordinary experiment: hypnotizing film fans to make them forget their favorite movie, so they can enjoy it again as if it were the first time. On November 9, the Pathé Buitenhof cinema in The Hague, Netherlands, will screen a film for thirty film fans, a film they have already seen, but one they may discover for the first time. It is no longer a day without end but an endless film…

Online hypnosis session with Victor Kraemer

Indeed, these volunteers will first have taken part in an online hypnosis session with hypnotist Victor Kraemer, whose aim will be to make them forget that famous film.

The Matrix, Se7en, La La Land and Interstellar on the program

The Matrix, Se7en, La La Land and Interstellar are the titles being considered for this experiment called Pathé Rewind, which aims to determine "whether hypnosis can surprise you again with a film you know by heart. Note that Pathé disclaims all responsibility for the outcome, the effects, or any other consequence of the hypnosis sessions".
