Breaking News: filming for season 2 of Pluribus has begun

Filming of the second season of Pluribus, the critically acclaimed science fiction series by Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad, has begun in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

If Apple TV had ordered two seasons from the outset, it took patience before production on this second batch of episodes got underway. Filming thus begins nearly a year after the first season aired.

Pluribus season 2 in production, no release date yet

This had sparked real critical enthusiasm, while also winning six Emmy Awards, including Best Actress for Rhea Seehorn and Best Writing for Vince Gilligan. Pluribus also became the most-watched series in Apple TV’s history, thanks to particularly high audiences right from its launch.

The information comes from Production List, relayed by 9to5Mac, which indicated that preproduction was already well advanced and that filming was due to begin on October 31. A schedule that matches Vince Gilligan’s statements last September, when he mentioned a start of filming between late October and early November. Apple TV has, for the time being, announced no release date for this second season.

One of the best series of the decade

At the crossroads of genres, this series with a rather unusual premise tells how the unhappiest person on the planet tries to save the world from happiness.

We’ll therefore have to wait a little longer to discover the rest of Pluribus. But in keeping with the series’ pace, it’s better to take its time and deliver a second season at least as successful as the first, rather than rush and risk botching the follow-up to what remains, to this day, one of the best series of the decade. And that is saying something (our review can be found by clicking on Pluribus).
