Netflix on iPhone Duo, adaptive ergonomics and new features

On the occasion of the commercialization of the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable-screen smartphone equipped with a 7.6" internal display, Netflix is rolling out a redesign of its iOS mobile app. On the program: an adaptive interface, playback controls rearranged according to the hinge angle (Book, Tent, or flat modes), and dynamic image-format management to make full use of this dual display surface.

Who says foldable screen says new type of screen, so applications that must adapt to this format by offering interfaces that are at least readable, and at best fully exploiting all its facets. Netflix recently unveiled its new interface adapted to the foldable screen of the iPhone Duo (5.4" closed, 7.6" unfolded), and the platform is very proud to have taken advantage of most of the subtleties offered by Apple’s new smartphone.

Among the new features mentioned by Netflix, there is a more dynamic and flexible home screen for an immersive big-screen feel, redesigned playback controls that adapt seamlessly to the viewing mode (full screen, Book mode, Tent mode, or lying flat), and a subtle reflective halo on the controls, which reacts to the hinge angle. In upcoming updates, a smooth and synchronized transition between vertical and horizontal clips is announced, allowing the phone to instantly adapt to what is being watched and how it is being watched.
