Pierce Brosnan joins the cast of Extraction 3

Pierce Brosnan has just been announced among the five new actors joining the cast of the third installment of Extraction, currently filming in Australia for Netflix.

&At; his side will also be Don Lee, noted in Train to Busan, Joe Taslim, seen in The Raid and Mortal Kombat, Chi Lewis-Parry, who plays Samson in 28 Years Later, as well as Siena Agudong, the interpreter of Sue Snell in the upcoming adaptation of Carrie directed by Mike Flanagan for Prime Video.

Don Lee’s presence should moreover serve as a bridge with another project in the franchise. The actor has in fact just finished filming a Korean-language spin-off in which he plays Tygo, a former child soldier turned mercenary. He is likely to reprise that same role in Extraction 3.

Big ambitions for Extraction 3, and the script too?

These newcomers join Chris Hemsworth, back in the role of the Australian covert operations mercenary Tyler Rake, as well as Idris Elba as the mysterious Alcott and Golshifteh Farahani as Nik Khan, Tyler’s partner.

It goes without saying that the cast of this third Extraction/Tyler Rake installment is growing spectacularly and testifies to the heightened ambitions of the producers for this new opus. We can imagine it will be at least as spectacular as the previous two. It now remains to be hoped that the script will also prove a little more polished, which, in this field, should still not amount to an impossible mission.

As cunning as Russo

Sam Hargrave once again takes charge of directing. Patrick Newall, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo are among the producers, while the screenplay, secret at the time of writing, has been entrusted to David Weil.

The films are adapted from the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks and the Russo brothers themselves. They are distinguished in particular by the importance given to sets and filming locations, which have become one of the franchise’s hallmarks. Filming is taking place between Sydney, the south coast of New South Wales and several regions of Europe. It is expected to continue until the beginning of October.
