(Almost) 20 million Nintendo Switch 2 units sold

It's not even a year old yet, but Nintendo's new console, the Switch 2, continues to sell like hotcakes. Even though the Japanese giant is expressing concerns about the future…
In its latest quarterly earnings announcement, Nintendo revealed that the new Switch 2 console had reached 19.86 million units sold worldwide, along with 48.71 million games sold. A very impressive result achieved after only nine months on store shelves, the console having been released in June 2025. Nintendo lowers its forecasts for 2026-2027. Despite this, Nintendo has lowered its estimates for the second (fiscal) year of the machine's operation. The company is now targeting only 16.5 million units sold between April 2026 and March 2027. Demand will likely be affected by the console's price increase, but this will be offset financially (in terms of revenue) by the same price increase. The original Switch continues its record-breaking run; As for the original Switch, it continues its steady progress, reaching 155.92 million units sold, after becoming the most popular Nintendo console of all time in the previous quarter.
