iPhone features unavailable due to Europe?

Key features of the new iOS 26, such as instant translation via AirPods, are disabled in our country, Apple explains, the European Union is to blame.

Because Apple is still struggling to meet the "exaggerated" demands of the European Union and its anti-competition laws (the famous DMA), some new iPhone features will be delayed in our country.

In particular, instant translation with AirPods, Mirroring (using the iPhone with your Mac screen), as well as favorite places and routes on Apple Maps. "For Apple, the DMA impacts many aspects of our users' experience with our products in the EU, from how they download apps and make payments to how their Apple products work together," the brand explained in a terse post on its website.

The DMA requires, in particular, that certain proprietary features of a manufacturer be open to third-party software and hardware developers. Apple explains that it cannot make these functions accessible to others without compromising the security and privacy of its users. The EU has given Apple until the end of the year to comply with these rules, or face hefty fines. While user security is a valid argument for the American giant, Apple also knows that this legislation risks putting an end to its exclusive preserve, which keeps its users within a 100% Apple ecosystem.
