Wi-Fi 8, Mediatek on the case

While Wi-Fi 7 is not yet widely adopted (estimated penetration rate of 30% to 40%), manufacturers have already been working on its successor for a while, and the Taiwanese electronics specialist -Mediatek- is already on the case.

Wi-Fi 8, target 2028££££ According to "leaker" Dan Nystedt, Mediatek and a selection of partners are already working on the development of Wi-Fi 8. The company is focusing on technologies to improve speed, bandwidth and stability for AI, AR, VR and XR applications. The first compatible products will enter the certification phase in late 2027, with deployment starting in 2028.

Wi-Fi 8, Ultra HD 4K/8K target££££ Wi-Fi 8 improvements will benefit [abc]high-quality video streaming[/abc] ([abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]4K[/abc]/[abc]8K[/abc]), as well as cloud gaming services like Xbox Cloud and nVidia GeForce Now, not to mention immersive video like on Apple Vision Pro. Wireless video connection will also be easier, eliminating the need for Display Port or [abc]HDMI[/abc] cables.
