Samsung OLED screens for Tesla robots?

Will the faces of Tesla's future Optimus humanoid robots be animated by OLED screens supplied by Samsung Display?

While Tesla recently signed a contract worth more than $16 billion for AI chips produced by Samsung, the agreement between the two companies could extend to more components, reveals Korean media outlet Kipost.

More specifically, Tesla is expected to order 8" (20.32 cm) [abc]OLED[/abc] screens from Samsung Display for its Optimus humanoid robots currently in development and not for its cars as one might have thought, which until now have [abc]LCD[/abc] screens. But, given the declining demand for electric vehicles, the company would have no interest in integrating more expensive technologies into its models. These screens are expected to ship in 2027 and will be used on a new batch of Optimus Gen3 robots that Tesla hopes to launch in 2026. The first models to be marketed will therefore either be without screens or equipped by another supplier.
