Netflix and Prime Video benefit from the most loyal subscribers

Without too many surprises, the two ancestors of video streaming have less difficulty retaining their subscribers than their more recent competitors in the sector.

Despite the widespread defection that is beginning to affect streaming platforms, pioneers Netflix and Prime Video have the most loyal subscribers: members remain registered there for more than four years on average. This is what a recent study by Park Associates reveals.

The loyalty of Netflix and Prime Video subscribers is increasing significantly

Over the past few years, the two services have consistently maintained the greatest longevity of subscriptions, with an average subscription time which increased by three to four months between the third quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, i.e. twice more than the competition.

A word to Eric Sorensen, Director of Streaming Video Monitoring at Parks Associates

"Homes are always trying different platforms as they evolve over time, to build their own selection of services," said Eric Sorensen, director of streaming video monitoring at Parks Associates. Subscriptions to premium services have an average duration of around two years, suggesting that consumers are satisfied in terms of the value of their content package.
