Audio quality, important for the majority of viewers dixit DTS

DTS celebrates its 30th anniversary, and delivers the results of a recent survey of consumers' audio habits and preferences, among 2,000 Americans and 2,000 Britons.

In 1993 Jurassic Park was the first film to benefit from the DTS multichannel playback system.

,.85% of film and series fans consider sound quality to be important

The other multi-channel audio specialist (with Dolby Laboratories) is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and conducted a survey on the subject of consumer habits and preferences regarding their sound experiences, at home or elsewhere. Here are some of the results, in no particular order, starting with sound quality, which is important for 85% of respondents who watch movies and series.

Audio system, the simplicity of use sought

Simplicity is also important to respondents. They seek to simplify installation by favoring connected audio systems that take a maximum of 5 minutes to set up (72%), compatible with their current system (71%), and which work via Wi-Fi (63%).

Audio preferences, each its own sound settings…

More than half of the respondents (58%) do not have the same audio preferences as the people they watch movies and series with, which leads to certain problems: different listening volume (at 33%) , watching content separately (19%), and arguing about listening volume (17%).

The sound, multitasking activity

Finally, when watching a video and even more so when listening to music, the individual does not pay full attention to it: respondents use their smartphone (45%), do housework (43 %), cook (40%), or exercise (27%).
