Star Citizen: Squadron 42 gives news with a trailer packed with stars

Will 2027 finally be the right year for Star Citizen and Squadron 42? One might be tempted to believe so, as Cloud Imperium Games has just unveiled an epic trailer to announce the wishlists for the solo campaign.

In development since 2012 (!), Star Citizen has seen its release window pushed back almost every year. Cloud Imperium Games and Chris Roberts’ ambitious multiplayer sci-fi title, heavily funded through crowdfunding by its fans, certainly moves forward regularly, but remains far from a final release in October 2026. The same goes for its solo campaign Squadron 42, for which we have known for several years that many Hollywood names will have roles.

Squadron 42 makes (another) oath

But on this October 12, 2026, here comes The Oath, a trailer for Squadron 42 that makes a promise: the game will be released (via the developer’s launcher, but also Steam) in the second quarter of 2027. Until then, it is possible to add the “cinematic space adventure” title to your wish list without knowing the launch price. Beyond being visually stunning, the video lists the actresses and actors who will lend their features to characters.

Take a deep breath, here is a good selection: Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Mark Strong, John Rhys-Davies, Henry Cavill, Ben Mendelsohn, Liam Cunningham, Andy Serkis (of course), Jack Huston, Rhona Mitra, Jonathan Bailey, and Gillian Anderson. In addition, Ian Duncan and Alix Wilton Regan will lend their faces to the player, who will play a new Navy recruit.
