First of all, the Australian actress Odessa Young (Mothering Sunday) has been cast to play Charlene Shiherlis in the sequel to Heat, which will be directed by Michael Mann. Filming is due to begin later this year. Although negotiations with the actress are not yet fully finalized, she is said to be the preferred choice for the role. Ashley Judd played Charlene Shiherlis in Michael Mann’s original film, released in 1995.
Maria Cid would also be the first choice for the role of the daughter of Neil McCauley’s companion in Heat 2.
Inde Navarrette met Michael Mann but…
Inde Navarrette, revealed in Obsession, had also been announced as a potential candidate for these two roles. But according to several sources, neither of them was ever offered to her. The actress would have simply met Michael Mann once, without that meeting leading anywhere. One rumor in particular suggested that she had preferred to join X-Men rather than Heat 2. Information that is therefore entirely unfounded. Odessa Young and Maria Cid join a cast that already includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Stephen Graham and Jason Clarke.
