Apple Vision Pro: a study validates its effectiveness in the operating room
This is what a study conducted by the UC San Diego Shiley Eye Institute reveals, corroborating the many testimonials from doctors that we have already reported. As a reminder, the headset displays a host of vital information in the same place, traditionally distributed throughout the operating room on more expensive equipment.
Comfort, speed and improved clinical reliability
The study in question thus compares “traditional” surgery with mixed-reality headset surgery, taking into account factors such as efficiency, reliability, weight and price. Conclusions for the Apple Vision Pro: operations 19% shorter on average, operation at 100% without complications, reduced workload and better ergonomics. And it concludes that “all participating surgeons preferred the headset experience”.
A solution at less than 1% of the cost of dedicated equipment
“To see their monitor, surgeons had to turn the upper part of their body about 90° from their forward-facing posture, the study indicates. With the Apple Vision Pro, surgeons benefited from an immersive image anchored in space, thereby eliminating the need to share a monitor or turn their body. And it adds ‘for less than 1% of the cost and with a size smaller than that of almost any equipment’.”
