Fast Forever: fresh blood to conclude the saga?

It is difficult to know what is really happening with Fast Forever, the eleventh and, it seems, final installment of the Fast & Furious franchise.

Between the successive delays, the uncertainty surrounding the production schedule, the budget issues and a communication that is at the very least contradictory, one wonders where the project really stands and when filming will finally be able to begin. Vin Diesel, the star of the saga, had nevertheless claimed to have been moved to tears upon reading a version of the script. Poor darling.

Vin Diesel: darling or fake?

But a new article from The Insneider, relayed by World of Reel, puts forward several major pieces of information. According to the journalist, the film still would not have a finished script and may never even have had one. From darling to fake, there is only one step. Fans of the franchise, choose your camp! Universal would also be looking for a new director.

This would suggest that Louis Leterrier, who directed Fast X, would ultimately not be returning. The filmmaker had also indicated earlier this year that he still had not had access to the script.

Fast Forever: toward a new generation of characters?

But the director position would not be the only thing getting a makeover. Still according to this information, Fast Forever could mark a passing of the torch, with Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto handing the baton to a new generation of characters.

Among the names regularly mentioned as joining the cast is Charles Melton, who was revealed by the series Riverdale, before standing out in Beef and May December.

Finally, several elements would suggest that filming would not begin before the start of 2028. A schedule that would make it impossible to keep the currently set release date of March 2028. Furious, perhaps, but for Fast, you'll have to try again!
